Kenya 'Marinyn' FOP
Kenya, a country in East Africa, is renowned worldwide for its wildlife reserves, towering mountain peaks, and the high-quality offerings from its tea gardens and coffee plantations. Located in the southwest part of Kenya, the Kericho district provides the perfect environment for tea growth with its high altitudes and almost daily rain showers. Kenyan tea is a staple in Irish and English tea blends, and for many years, it was predominantly produced for the tea bag trade. Over the past decade or so, Kenyan tea producers have been focusing on more orthodox production to create high-quality black tea leaves.
The Kenya Marinyn plantation produces this cloned black tea from the Camelia Sinensis plant, resembling a Darjeeling tea but stronger. The nicely twisted, golden tips steep to a bright, robust, medium-bodied tea with a slight malty and fruity flavor.
