A centuries-old Chinese tradition
Tea flowers are an old Chinese tradition, where for centuries tea has been crafted to unfold in hot water like the most beautiful blooming flowers.
Only the finest and youngest tea leaves are selected for this Chinese specialty. Hand-picked and meticulously tied together with flowers, the leaves are shaped into these remarkable tea creations.
In China, these artistic teas are often given as gifts.
The flowers most commonly tied with the tea include chrysanthemum, jasmine, lily and amaranthus.
Preparation
Boil 400–500 ml of water and let it cool to approx. 90 °C. Pour the water into a large glass or a glass teapot. Carefully lower a tea flower into the water and wait about 10 minutes.
The tea flower can be infused 2–3 times by adding more hot water.
