What is Jasmine tea?

Jasmine tea originates from China and is one of the oldest and most cherished aromatic teas. After a gentle heat treatment, freshly picked jasmine flowers are layered with the tea leaves, allowing the leaves to absorb their floral scent.

The whole mixture then goes through a new heat treatment to remove the rest of the moisture in the jasmine flowers. The flowers are usually removed at the end, as they have now given all their glory to the tea leaves - however, in some cases, new jasmine flowers are added as decoration.
