Coriander seeds organic

Coriander is a spice which, when combined with other herbs and good ingredients, can make food go from pure fodder to a strong sensory experience.

Throughout all times and places, it has been linked to the sensual. It is mentioned around the world, in Egyptian and Chinese writings, in the Bible and in the adventures of 1001 Nights. In several places it is considered an aphrodisiac. That it is an herb with great power can be understood when it is also associated with immortality.

Today, however, it seems that coriander has so far played out its role as a medicinal plant, but the sensuality does not disappear. Today, coriander is used both as an ingredient in perfume and soap and thus also as a spice.

Coriander has not been used very much in the past, probably because the plant and especially the green seeds have a very special scent, some would say a penetrating unpleasant smell. But don't be fooled by the first scent impressions, because there is a heavenly smell waiting.

It originates from Asia and is used in cooking. Especially in the famous Chinese dumblings, coriander is used. But today it is used in most of the world. The taste is reminiscent of lemon, pepper and sage. You can either use coriander seeds whole or ground. Ground coriander is part of curry, and is used, among other things. in falafel and in English Christmas cakes.

Coriander grows naturally in North Africa and Asia, while it is wild in the Mediterranean countries. It is an annual plant in the umbel family, i.e. the same family as e.g. the good herbs parsley, parsnip, chervil, quince, cumin, cumin, but also the poisonous skarntyde, poison yarrow and bear's claw.

Latin name: Coriandrum sativum
