White Moonlight Yunnan white oolong tea organic
It is exceptionally beautiful in the leaves and gives a fantastic taste with fine sweetness, slightly fruity ala orange and an incredible depth of taste. There is a big difference between the organic version and the non-organic (also in price), where the organic Moonlight has so many tones and depth that you don't find in the non-organic.
This "Moonlight White" White Tea (月光白) is a variation of the tea plant Camelia Sinensis and the variety is called Chang Ye Bai Hao. It grows at an altitude of 1260 meters on the slopes of the Wan Zhang Mountains near the town of Mulihe just west of the town of Pu'Er in the Simao area.
The tea was harvested in April 2018 in the moonlight on a specific day based on the Chinese calendar and the position of the moon. Picked at the right time, the tea tastes even better. The treatment is traditional using "room temperature" air drying. There is very little fermentation and when brewed, the tea leaves have a green/yellow color.
The cup is golden, with a deep and rich taste and slightly creamy mouthfeel. The tea is sweet like sugar cane with notes of wheat kernels. There is a little more vegetal character to this tea compared to the Silver Needles White tea types, which however gives this tea a little more depth.
