Brazil Fazenda Rainha Yellow Bourbon
A mild yet full-bodied and intense coffee with a pleasant mouthfeel. Sweetness is characteristic of Yellow Bourbon and evokes thoughts of light chocolate and a hint of hazelnuts.
Brazil Fazenda Rainha Yellow Bourbon is a delicious 'pulped-natural' coffee. The farm has been family-owned since 1890. It is located at the edge of the Minas Gerais region and is characterized by the mountainous areas of Mogiana and Sul de Minas. The farm covers about 480 hectares, with a production area of around 190 hectares. Most of the daily routines on the farm are performed manually without the use of mechanical equipment, as the terrain does not permit such machinery.
Environmental and social sustainability is very important to the farm and is highly valued. The owner (Luis Fernando de Carvalho Dias) works with the original coffee varieties to ensure a better ecological balance and soil utilization. The wastewater discharged from the farm is treated on-site to prevent pollution of the local river flowing through the fields.
On the social side, the farm has invested in school buses to ensure local children can attend school. The farm provides 25 modern houses with modern facilities to ensure the best conditions for the workers.
The coffee grows at an altitude of 1200-1400 meters above sea level with an expected annual rainfall of 1800-2000 mm and an average temperature of 19 degrees, making the climate ideal for coffee cultivation. The farm exclusively produces Arabica coffee of the Yellow Bourbon variety, known for its consistently high quality. Most of the coffee trees on the farm are around 107 years old. The cherries are harvested and processed using the 'pulped-natural' method, where the cherry skin is pulped, and the flesh and beans are sun-dried. The beans receive maximum attention to retain the qualities for which Fazenda Rainha coffee is known.
We roast the coffee very gently with a special profile that emphasizes the unique characteristics offered in the cup. When roasted perfectly, it is medium-roasted and not too dark. In the cup, the taste is mild yet full-bodied and intense, with a pleasant mouthfeel. Sweetness is characteristic of Yellow Bourbon and evokes thoughts of light chocolate and a hint of hazelnuts.
Roasted by Strandvejsristeriet in Helsingør. You can get the coffee as whole beans, ground for filter/coffee machine, or French press.
