Brazil Fazenda Rainha yellow bourbon
A mild, yet full-bodied and intense coffee, with a good and pleasant mouthfeel. Sweetness is characteristic of Yellow Bourbon and it brings to mind light chocolate and a touch of hazelnuts.
Brazil Fazenda Rainha Yellow Bourbon is a delicious “pulped-natural” coffee. The farm has been family-owned since 1890. The farm is located on the edge of the Minas Gerais region and is characterized by the mountainous areas of Mogiana and Sul de Minas. The farm size is around 480 hectares, with the production area around 190 hectares. The majority of the daily routines on the farm are carried out manually without the use of mechanical equipment, as the topography does not allow for such machines.
Environmental and social sustainability is very important to the farm and something that is highly valued. The owner (Luis Fernando de Carvalho Dias) works with the indigenous coffee varieties to ensure a better ecological balance and use of the land. The wastewater discharged from the farm is treated on the farm so that the local river that runs through the fields is not polluted.
On the social side, the farm has invested in school buses so that local children can get to school. The farm has 25 modern houses with modern facilities to ensure the best conditions for the workers.
The coffee grows at an altitude of 1200-1400 m above sea level with an annual expected rainfall of 1800-2000 mm and an average temperature of 19 degrees, which makes the climate ideal for coffee cultivation. The farm produces exclusively Arabica coffee of the Yellow Bourbon variety, which is known for its high, stable quality. Most of the coffee trees on the farm are around 107 years old.
The coffee berries are harvested and processed using the “pulped-natural” method, where the berry skin is pulped and the pulp and coffee beans are dried in the sun. The beans are given maximum attention so that they do not lose the qualities that coffee from Fazenda Rainha possesses.
We roast the coffee very gently and according to a very special profile that produces the very special characteristics that the coffee can offer in the cup. When it is roasted perfectly, it is medium roasted and not too dark. In the cup, the taste is mild, yet full-bodied and intense, with a good and pleasant mouthfeel. Sweetness is characteristic of Yellow Bourbon and it brings to mind light chocolate and a little hazelnut.
Roasted by Strandvejsristeriet in Helsingør.
You can get the coffee in whole beans, ground for filter/coffee machine or plunger.
