Kenya "Marinyn" FOP
Kenya, a country in East Africa, is known worldwide for its game reserves, its high mountain peaks, and the high quality offerings from the country's tea gardens and coffee plantations. Located in the southwestern part of Kenya is the Kericho district, where the altitude and almost daily rain showers create the perfect environment for tea growth. Kenya tea is an important everyday sight in Irish and English tea blends and for many years it was mostly produced for the tea bag trade. In the last 10 years or so, Kenya tea producers have focused on the more orthodox production to create high quality black tea leaves.
The Kenya Marinyn plantation produces this cloned black tea from the tea plant Camelia Sinensis and it is somewhat similar to a Darjeeling tea, but stronger. The nicely twisted, golden tips leave steep for a light, robust, medium-bodied tea with a slightly malty and fruity taste.
