Hibiscus Organic
Hibiscus tea is an herbal drink made from the bright red or deep magenta-colored calyces of the Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) flower. It is enjoyed both hot and cold. Hibiscus sabdariffa is a species of the Hibiscus plant native to West Africa, used for producing bast fiber and as a drink, also known as carcade.
It has a tart, cranberry-like flavor, and sugar is often added to sweeten the drink. Hibiscus contains 15-30% organic acids, including citric acid, malic acid, and tartaric acid. It also contains acidic polysaccharides and flavonoid glycosides, such as cyanidin and delphinidin, which provide its characteristic deep red color.
Use a rounded teaspoon per cup, add boiling water, and steep for 6 to 12 minutes. It can be sweetened with sugar or honey to taste.
