Juniper Berries Organic
The juniper is a dioecious, evergreen, needle-bearing shrub with a highly variable growth form. There are everything from flat creeping and round, pot-shaped and completely irregular bushes to cylindrical and columnar trees. The needles are sharp and arranged in whorls of three. The shrub produces the edible berry cone, known as the juniper berry. The fruit takes two years to develop into a small, blackish-blue berry cone. Only female plants bear berries.
The berries can be used as a spice. Their taste is well-known from Steinhäger, gin, and genever. Dried berries are often used in cooking.
Latin name: Juniperus communis
