Lapsang Souchong "smoked tea" organic

Lapsang Souchong smoked tea comes from the Wuyi mountains in the Chinese province of Fujian, from the city of Tarry . Lapsang means "smoke" in Chinese and Souchong is the type of tea that all aged Chinese teas are called.

The story goes that smoked tea was "invented" out of an accident 1100 years ago in the city of Tary, when a tea production house burns down just after harvest . The farmers tried to save as much of the harvest as possible, but discovered that the tea had been destroyed by smoke . But nothing should go to waste , so the peasants tried drinking the tea , which now had a significant smoky flavor , and they liked it .

Nowadays , and eager to meet the great demand for smoked tea, the tea producers have sped up the drying process by drying the tea leaves over an open fire of firewood made from elm wood, the same type of wood that is used to smoke Bornholm smoked herring.

This special type of tea is often used in a mixture with Earl Gray tea , or in other mixtures where the taste of smoke must be felt.
