Golden Nepal Kanyam GFOP

Seasoned tea drinkers refer to this wonderful tea as 'real' tea. And they are absolutely right; it tastes as tea should — mild, smooth, full-bodied, lightly aromatic, and almost without bitterness. Golden Nepal has been absent from the Danish market for a long time, but we found it with our German tea supplier.

Golden Nepal Kanyam GFOP represents the pinnacle of Nepalese tea. 'Golden' because this quality has a golden leaf color, which tells its own story about altitude and climate. It is mild but fills the palate with a rich tea flavor. One might be tempted to say that this tea is very strong in a very mild way.

Kanyam tea estate is situated at a height around 1800 meters above sea level in the eastern part of Nepal and is the highest located tea estate in the Ilam District, only 2 kilometers from Darjeeling's tea hills. Climatic conditions are so parallel that the thick Cotton Clouds seen over Ilam and Darjeeling literally cross each other sparking off the same mountain winds and rain that clean the tea gardens situated in these areas. The Kanyam tea estate was first planted under the technical collaboration of the British government. Kanyam's first foundation was planted by the Late King Birendra with the vision to encourage the tea sector in Nepal, and it consists of approximately 240 hectares, of which tea is planted on 200 hectares. The estate produces around 125 tons annually of some of the most exquisite Orthodox tea found in this region.
