Golden Nepal "Kanyam" GFOP

Older tea drinkers call this wonderful tea "real" tea. And that's right, it tastes like tea should taste, mild, soft, rich, slightly aromatic, almost without bitterness. Golden Nepal has been away from the Danish market for a long time, but we found it at our German tea supplier.

Golden Nepal Kanyam GFOP is the pinnacle of Nepalese tea. "Golden" because this quality has a golden leaf color that tells its own story of altitude and climate. It is mild, but it fills the mouth cavity with a lot of tea flavor. One could be tempted to say that this tea is very strong in a very mild way.

The Kanyam tea plantation is located at an altitude of around 1800 meters above sea level in the eastern part of Nepal, and is the highest situated tea plantation in the Ilam District, only 2 kilometers from the Darjeeling tea hills. Climatic conditions are so similar for this area that the thick cotton clouds over Ilam and over Darjeeling literally cross each other from the same mountains with wind and rain cleaning the tea plantations located in these areas.
The Kanyam tea plantation was planted by the late King Birendra as an attempt to promote the tea sector in Nepal, and consists of approx. 240 hectares, of which the tea plants cover 200 hectares. The plantation annually produces around 125 tonnes of some of the finest orthodox tea available in this area.
