Herb de Provence organic

Herb de Provence is a blend of dried spices typical of the Provence region in southeast France. Previously it was just a descriptive term, but in the 1970s these mixtures began to be sold under this name commercial.

These mixtures typically contain sardine, marjoram, rosemary, thyme, oregano and other herbs. In the North American market, lavender flower was typically included in the mixture, although lavender was not used in traditional southern French cooking.

The name herb de Provence is not a protected name, so there is no guarantee that the spice mix actually comes from Provence; indeed, the vast majority of these mixtures come from Central and Eastern Europe, North Africa, and China.

Herb de Provence is used to give flavor to grilled dishes such as fish and meat, as well as very good for vegetable stews. The mixture can be added to the food before or during cooking or mixed with cooking oil before cooking to add flavor to cooked foods. They are rarely added after the cooking is finished.

This blend contains: Rosemary, thyme, oregano, sar, bay leaves and basil.

Country of origin: mixed in the EU, but the spices come from outside the EU
