Gunpowder is a very unique green tea and derives its name from the tightly rolled green leaves that resemble the powder used in cannons on 18th century British ships. These are large half tea leaves that are tightly rolled. The tight rolling helps keep Gunpowder fresher, offering a longer shelf life than other green teas. When fully steeped, the balls unfurl into whole leaves. The taste is delightful, rich, and very satisfying. If brewed correctly, this tea lacks bitterness.
You can also make fantastic iced tea from this Gunpowder that the whole family will enjoy. Or try making green tea sorbet from it, adding a bit of sugar and lemon.
Brewing Instructions:
- Dosage: 10 grams per liter (3-4 teaspoons)
- Steep time: 2-3 minutes
- Water temperature: 72 - 74 0C
