Hibiscus organic
Hibiscus tea is an herb made as a beverage from the bright red or deep magenta colored calyces (sepals) of the Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) flower. It is drunk both hot and cold. Hibiscus sabdariffa is a species of the Hibiscus plant native to West Africa, used for the production of bast fiber and as a beverage, which is also known as carcade.
It has a tart, cranberry-like flavor and sugar is often added to sweeten the drink. In western Sudan, a white hibiscus flower popular for its bitter taste and usually served to the guests. Hibiscus contains 15-30% organic acids, including citric acid, malic acid and tartaric acid. It also contains acidic polysaccharides and flavonoid glycosides, such as cyanidin and delphinidin, which give it its characteristic deep red color.
Use a rounded teaspoon per cup, add boiling water, let steep for 6 to 12 minutes. Can be sweetened with sugar or honey to taste.
