Cayenne pepper whole organic
Cayenne pepper is a semi-shrub that, among other things, grown in a greenhouse for its 2-4 cm long, red fruits when ripe, which are dried and pounded and used as a spice; the fresh fruits are not as strong as dried. Cayenne pepper is a chili product that we know best as a reddish-brown powder similar to paprika. But cayenne pepper has a much stronger and more burning taste than paprika .
This Cayenne pepper we sell is 100% organic.
Dried chili peppers of the cayenne variety are used to make cayenne pepper . The chili fruits are picked when they are ripe, and then they are dried and ground into powder. The strength of the cayenne pepper can vary, depending on whether the seeds are ground or not. The more seeds, the brighter and stronger spice you get.
Latin name: Capsicum frutescens
Application
Cayenne pepper can be used for meat and poultry, especially stews and grilled meat. But omelettes and cheese dishes can also be given a touch of cayenne.
Cayenne pepper is also used in dressings and sauces for shellfish and fish. And it is often included as the strong ingredient in curry mixes and in the chili sauces that you can buy by the glass or in bottles.
Cayenne powder quickly loses some of its powerful flavor if left alone. It must therefore be stored dry and airtight.
Origin
The name cayenne refers to a Caribbean island called Cayenne, although this is not where it originated. Cayenne pepper originates from South America. Today it is grown in India, East Africa, Mexico and the United States.
Cayenne pepper has previously been called Indian pepper . But this is wrong, as it has nothing to do with peppercorns, and the relation to India is based on a misunderstanding, because Columbus thought he had come to India when he came to America.
